About Panerai PAM389,  how much do you know? PAM389, uses a scratch resistant ceramic insert. Instead of using the typical subdials for minute counters, Panerai opted to use two central hands: one for the seconds and a blued steel for the minutes counter. Today I review the Panerai Radiomir 1940 3 Days, aka PAM514 (PAM00514). I've been spending a lot more time with Panerai over the last few months. It is a brand that hasn't gotten a lot of my attention in a few years. Why? Well let's face it, even Panerai lovers will agree that in many instances, if you are familiar with a few Panerai watches, you are familiar with most of them. Panerai has a few set case styles and a few set dial styles with a lot of mixing and matching and slight tweaks. Good News The Italian brand Officine Panerai has recently expanded its growing range of in-house movements with yet another nice job. Called Caliber P.5000, the new hand-wound engine offers an impressive combination of beautifully laconic decoration with surprisingly efficient design and impressive power reserve. The first timekeeper to be equipped with the new caliber happened to be the new Panerai Luminor Marina 8 Days Oro Rosso (Ref. PAM00511) wrist watch that was presented in New York earlier this week. Watch review | Panerai Introduces Entry-Level Luminor 8 Days Watches with P.5000 Movement Watch fans usually love Panerai, at this point, it is worth talking a bit about this new P. 5000 movement.  First and foremost, this is a hand-wound movement that is comprised of 127 components and beats at 3Hz or 21,600bph. The movement, like most other Panerai in-house movements, is fairly large at 15¾ lignes, but this is necessary because, as you know, Panerai makes large watches. Most significantly, it boasts a power reserve of 8 days and this is achieved by having two barrels in series. Such a configuration allows longer, thinner springs to be used, giving it its long power reserve. This year, Panerai is releasing five new Luminor models (three Base modes, two Marina models with sub-seconds at nine) that will be powered by this newly developed movement. Hey everyone! Just got the PAM 1392 which was announced in late May during the "Dive into Time" exhibition and wanted to share with you. Estimated delivery was around September but the Boutique tried their best and here I am... Really enjoying this 42mm Luminor Marina 1950! My first impressions compared to the older version PAM 392 would be that it is really possible to feel the difference of height and weight of the case and also the blue seconds hand is a nice touch referencing to the vintage models.
